Der FC EDA und der FC Strada Kurier trennen sich im ersten Vorbereitungsspiel 2015 mit einem freundschaftlichen 2:2 Unentschieden.
FC EDA 2015 Season has begun! The team is still relishing the historical achievements of last season, but a new chapter has arrived with a league title to be defended, FC EDA will always aim high.
Under an overcast sky, FC EDA had it's comeback after almost 5 months since the last match, this absence was noticeable as soon FC EDA players touch the slippery pitch in Wyler, ball control and passing accuracy was definitely affected due this long break. With 8 absences and 2 debuts (Silvan and Ertan) some changes had to be made. Goal keeping, through the absence of Stauffacher, was assumed by Büschi and an improvised inner defensive duo (MacAhoda/Gamma), meant that this defensive unit lacked match practice. The opponent, Strada Kurier, restricted to the lower divisions in past years, has been always a respected team, with quality players and attractive football.
As the long awaited whistle finally sounded, the recently promoted Serie A team, Strada Kurier showed calmness and determination in controlling the encounter with the league champions. With more ball possession, Strada took the reins, mostly through good ball exchange from their side and aided by low pressure lines from FC EDA. The first goals chances start to occur near the FC EDA goal but were thwarted by a resolute defence. Around the first quarter, against the flow of the game, Viana directed a long cross to Theiler who gave a deadly pass to Larry that nearly made it 1-0, first sign of life from FC EDA in the game. With 20’ minutes played, Strada scored through a corner kick deflected at the first post and flicked home. Less than 10 minutes later Strada scores again, this time on a long ball to the box, that due some misfortune combined with bad communication between Büschi and Tom, ended up with a loose ball to the opponent, who slotted into the empty net, 0-2 was made.
That was the second wake up call for the reds, that were unrecognized, until 39’, when the restless Zierski, served by Gamma, put FC EDA back in the game with an amazing long cross shot, 1-2. Within 5 minutes just passed an efficient ground triangulation passing movement from back right between Fabrice and Jonas opened an gap in the center, enough for Fabrice directed a long pass to Larry, which stretched the Strada defence, struck characteristically low and hard with a ruthless ease into the far corner, 2-2 and half time whistle, perfect timing.
FC EDA started the second half with restored confidence and a willingness to do better, but once again, Strada assumed control of the game and sent a dangerous ball towards the FC EDA post.
The response came out through from Viana who avoided an opponent and released Büschi onto the wing, that with skill and precision he left the defender behind and ends with a delicate cross to Larry that was unfortunately missed.
Some minutes passed when a free kick perfectly executed by Theiler to Viana's head, passed nearby the post.
FC EDA were revived and searching for the goal but the last minutes belonged to Strada, finishing the match final moments with a close opportunity from a precise free kick were the ball end up striking the post.
Final whistle, 2:2, an bitter taste left, cause even with so many absences, FC EDA game should and must be sharpened. On the other hand was a extremely important test match against a challenger that revealed itself as a team with a right to play in Serie and will surely bring more competitiveness into the Serie.
Thanks to Silvan who made his first appearance (of many, we hope) with the FC EDA shirt, Ertan for his outstanding exhibition between the posts during the second half and lastly to MacAodha wearing the captain's armband for the first time, a deserved award for all of his commitment and perseverance embodying the FC EDA spirit.
